Universal Pictures announced Fabian Castros promotion to supervise the Multicultural Marketing division; and also the contract extension for Talitha Watkins, who has been in the department since its beginnings. Both executives have contributed to some of the recent success of the company through the development and implementation of culturally relevant strategies that have made of Universal the leading industry of the multicultural marketing.Castro, who was Multicultural Marketing VP, will be promoted to senior VP and he will supervise the work of the multicultural division and its contributions to Universal Pictures films. Under his leadership, the department is expanding its teams to increase its presence in marketing campaigns to reach a wider range of ethnic groups and demographic, specially.Universal Pictures created the Multicultural Marketing group in 2010 and hired Castro to focus on reaching the Latino public and Watkins on the Afro-Americans audiences. Castro and Watkins work directly with advertising, promotion and mass media to develop marketing strategies. The announcement was made by Universals Marketing co-president, Michael Moises. “Reaching the Hispanic market is a priority for all the studios, and we are proud of the achievements we have made thanks to Fabians guidance. He has taken us to implement innovative and effective campaign that join all the marketing disciplines and to communicate authentically with this segment,” Moises said.
