Patricia Riggen got into movies as a screenwriter for a documentary TV series produced by Berta Navarro, a co-producer of the film Pans Labyrinth. She later moved from her hometown of Guadalajara to Mexico City to work as a creative executive for the Mexican Film Institute, or IMCINE, where she produced a series of shorts, commercials and documentaries.In 1998, Riggen made the jump to New York to take a masters degree in directing and scriptwriting at Columbia University. La Milpa aired on HBO in the United States and on television in many other countries.The first feature film she directed and produced was titled Under the Same Moon and was entered in the 2007 Sundance Film Festival where it won tremendous applause from the audience. The production was acquired by Fox Searchlight and The Weinstein Company, and is the Mexican film with the third biggest box office of all time in the United States.Patricia Riggen admitted to PRODU that since she was little, she always wanted to make movies because it combined photography, music and poetry, and she loved them all. She is currently working on a production called The 33, the story of Chiles trapped miners and how they were rescued. Working in a mens world, managing to express my vision and assembling a first-class cast are challenges I have to face every day, she said.Production company: Harpoon Pictures, USAContact: {Stephanie Stockli;STEPHANIE@IGOTCREATIVE.COM}T +1-786-351-7228{Watch video;www.produ.tv/popup.html?noti=7348}
