Gurvit: el humor va con mi personalidad, sin duda

Jonathan Gurvit, who began his career in February 2000, even now says “I still consider myself a new director so I listen to advice.” But though short on years in the business, he has already won a ton of honors. His career began at DDB Argentina as a junior art director.In 2002 he joined Del Campo Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi. He was instrumental in making the Buenos Aires Zoo an international brand and won his first TV Gold Lion with Little Bird for the Costa Theme Park. In 2004 Del Campo promoted him to creative director to develop the Pampers.com campaign, which led to the creative transformation of the brand in Latin America and won Pampers its first Cannes Lion.Hernan Ponce and Fernando Vega Olmos invited Gurvit to join Vega Olmos Ponce Lowe in 2005, where he worked for such brands as Lynx, Rexona and Visa. A year later he returned to Del Campo Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi as executive creative director and the agency-wide head of art, soon winning P&G its first Gold Lion at Cannes with his Route billboard for Ariel.As for his dealings with agency people, Gurvit told us that “I prefer to maintain a working relationship with people regardless of their title. I like to exchange ideas with people eager to come up with the best possible idea based on their knowledge and experience and nothing in particular to do with their position or title.”Among the awards he helped nail down were two years as Best Agency of Iberoamerica, according to LatinSpots.com, along with two years in the Top Ten of the International Gunn Report, honors that made Del Campo Saatchi & Saatchi the biggest international prizewinner in Argentina. In 2007 he joined Ogilvy & Mather Argentina as executive creative director and head of art, handling Coca Cola, Coca Cola Zero, Sprite, Sprite Zero, Banco Santander, Budweiser, Huggies, Kotex, Microsoft, Dove, Tang, Clight, Milka, Panasonic, Heineken and other top brands.His first work as a film director came in 2010 with the spot Hair Conditioner for Banco Santander, which brought home another Cannes Lion, prizes from the London International Awards and the Iberoamerican Advertising Festival, or FIAP, as well as gold from Ojo de Iberoamerica and the CCCA (Argentine Creative Circle).Then, after more than 10 years working in ad agencies, he decided it was time to start a brand new career – this time as a film director.“A director often thinks like a producer and vice versa. I like to hear their points of view and take what I feel is best for each project,” said Jonathan, an approach that has undoubtedly enriched his shoots on four continents for the agencies BBH in Shanghai; W+K in Sao Paulo; Heimat Berlin in Germany; Crispin P&B and DDB in London and Argentina; Latinworks, Dieste, S&S in Los Angeles; Euro RSCG Worldwide and Draft FCB in Mexico, and many more.What Gurvit likes doing most is humor “mixed with postproduction. The fun of it keeps me entertained day after day. I like to think that I have to perfect everything. Absolutely. It’s like a philosophy of life that goes beyond the professional aspect,” the director said.Throughout his career, Jonathan Gurvit has won 18 Cannes Lions, 20 Clios, and more than 400 prizes at the One Show, D&AD, New York Festivals (Grand Prix), London International Awards, Golden Award of Montreux, Ojo de Iberoamerica, FIAP and CCCA.Production company: D’Avant Garde Media, U.S.Contact:{Jonathan Gurvit;production@davant-garde.com}T +1-310-383-2852{Watch video;www.produ.tv/popup.html?noti=7169}
