Apple will make Echo 3, an international thriller written by the Academy award-winning producer and author, Mark Boal (The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty). The Apple and Keshet Studios production will have ten episodes and will be shot in English and in Spanish in the US and South America.

Angélica Guerra, Head of Apple TV+ for Latin America, commissioned the agreement.

Boal will serve as showrunner together with Jason Horwitch (Berlin Station, House of Cards). Echo 3 is based on the Keshet Broadcasting series When Heroes Fly, created by Omri Givon and inspired by the novel by Amir Gutfreund. It is, additionally, the second series by Keshet International for Apple, after Suspicion (by Keshet Productions starring Uma Thurman and based on the Israelian series False Flag).

Echo 3 revolves around the explosive context of a secret war. When the young scientist Amber Chesborough disappears on the border between Colombia and Venezuela, her brother and her husband, both with military experience, will struggle to find her while they overcome the differences in their past.

Echo 3 joins the growing list of original international Apple series. The company also closed a deal with the multi-awarded Alfonso Cuarón to develop exclusive television projects for Apple TV+ through its production company Esperanto Filmoj.

The next original Apple TV+ launches will be Masters of the Air (Apple Studios, Amblin Television owned by Steven Spielberg and Playtone by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman), Slow Horses (with Gary Oldman); Shantaram (with Charlie Hunnam) and Pachinko.
