Banijay Mexico & US Hispanic has a lot of work to do in the second half of 2022: they are in pre-production of LOL (Colombia and another territory), their first original that will soon be released, as well as titles from the Banijay bookstore that are about to be ready and announce. “We are busy,” confessed its general director, Marie Leguizamo.

Just two months after the launch of Mexico’s office and team, Leguizamo expressed her enormous enthusiasm for the welcome they’ve received, and for all the opportunities that lie ahead. “They have welcomed us with open arms,” she said in her usual joyful ambiance.

“I am very happy with the reception we have had, many people were curious to know the differences we have with EndemolShine Boomdog and about a foreigner leading a Mexican team, which is actually very diverse because of people from different parts of the world work with us. At the launch, I had the opportunity to talk to many people with whom we have not done business before and also to learn about projects”.

In these months in Mexico, they have already carried out several pitches to clients and have closed agreements. “I feel enormously grateful because we have the opportunity to create incredible things because these clients believe in us,” she said, after mentioning that they have presented these projects according to the profile of each client. “It is what distinguishes us, we put together the projects tailored for each client”.

She said that they will be very busy during the second half of 2022. As they had already announced, they are working in the LOL (Last One Laughing) production hub for Amazon and LOL Colombia will be the next program to produce, as the platform recently revealed. “There is still one more to be announced in a few days,” she said, adding that she hopes that LOL Colombia will be as popular as LOL Mexico, whose fourth season has just been released.

Becky G was recently in Mexico City, with whom they have been in conversations regarding a documentary series about the Latin female group Angel22, “We are very close to closing that project.” Another development is the one that they will carry out with the Mexican comedian and writer Ricardo O’Farrill. “Right now we’re polishing up a lot of these projects to make sure they’re super ready to hit the market, as well as really studying which production house will take on this project,” she said.

“We also began the production of the first Banijay México’s original, which excites me a lot, it is a format that we’ve created and sold, and that we are currently in pre-production. We will be announcing it very soon,” she said, after assuring that the Banijay bookstore offers them enormous possibilities. “We are almost ready to close another project, which comes out of our bookstore, and it is going to be a great goal.”

“What this talent needs are opportunities. Many had not been able to put on big shows or work with outside teams. We are providing these opportunities, along with training. We believe in people, and I am very proud of the response they are giving us. We want to see them grow, they have a lot of desire and are very talented”, she said regarding the talent of the Mexican market.
