BBQ Agency Uses Humor to Promote Argentine Film Festival in Los Angeles

21 de octubre de 2026

The festival will showcase five Argentine films from October 23–25 at The Miracle Theatre

BBQ Agency presents its new campaign for the Argentine Film Festival in Los Angeles, an initiative supported by the Argentine Consulate in Los Angeles that will showcase five Argentine films from October 23–25 at The Miracle Theatre.

Created in collaboration with production company Lost Dog, the commercial draws inspiration from some of the conversations and controversies that circulated on social media throughout 2026 around favoritism toward Argentina. Through humor and irony, the piece brings a rivalry that extends far beyond soccer into the world of cinema, using these debates as a creative hook to promote the festival.

The initiative builds on the festival’s connection with advertising creativity. In 2010, a campaign associated with the event won a Cannes Lions award in the Film category, establishing a creative legacy that connects with this new promotional effort.

This year’s edition will feature a lineup spanning different genres, stories and perspectives from contemporary Argentine cinema. The selection includes La Virgen de la Tosquera, directed by Laura Casabé; Canelones, by Christian Basilis and Ana Laura Gussoni; Yo, Narciso, directed by Adrián Suar; Pepita, la pistolera, by Lucía Puenzo; and Lo dejamos acá, directed by Hernán Goldfrid.

Screenings will take place over three days. La Virgen de la Tosquera opens the festival on Friday, October 23, at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, October 24, audiences can watch Canelones at 5 p.m. and Yo, Narciso at 8 p.m. The program concludes on Sunday, October 25, with Pepita, la pistolera at 4 p.m. and Lo dejamos acá at 7 p.m.
