Experience Kissimmee launched Film Kissimmee, the official film commission of Osceola County, created to attract film, TV, advertising, and digital media productions, showcase the destination’s diverse filming locations, and expand opportunities for the local tourism economy.
Film Kissimmee will be a central resource for production companies, location managers, and digital content creators seeking filming opportunities in central Florida, connecting industry professionals with a wide variety of locations, local knowledge, and production resources to help bring stories to life in Osceola County.
“This initiative reflects the hard work of a team that saw an opportunity and took meaningful steps to make it a reality. Film Kissimmee creates a direct connection between our community and an industry that can drive visitor arrivals, support local businesses, and introduce new audiences to everything the county has to offer,” said DT Minich, President and CEO of Experience Kissimmee, the Osceola County Tourist Development Office.
Nick Floyd, Video Production Manager at Experience Kissimmee and new Director of the Kissimmee Film Commission, will lead Film Kissimmee and oversee efforts to position Osceola County as a top-tier destination for film, TV, and advertising productions.
“Just as Osceola County is a great place to vacation, we firmly believe it is a diverse location for film and TV production. Film Kissimmee is our way of exploring that intersection between both worlds. I’m very excited to kick off this new project, not only as an opportunity to showcase many of our incredible partners, but also to gain new perspectives on our destination from filmmakers and producers,” said Floyd.
One of the great advantages of Film Kissimmee is the enormous variety of filming locations offered by Osceola County, in central Florida, just minutes from Orlando. Within a short drive, production crews can find very different landscapes that showcase the many faces of Florida: natural rivers and lakes, cypress-lined wetlands, historic downtown streets, luxury vacation homes, cattle ranches, hotels, and modern innovation centers. Adding to this is Kissimmee’s extensive supply of vacation homes, which serve as unique, shoot-ready settings: from luxury mansions and themed houses to modern residences and resort-style properties. Each offers a different and special backdrop for films, television series, and commercials.
To support the launch of the initiative, Experience Kissimmee partnered with a professional location scout with more than 20 years of experience. The expert identified and documented more than 100 potential filming locations throughout Osceola County. These locations are being added to an online directory developed by Reel-Scout, a leading industry platform for location management, which allows filmmakers to search available properties, review photographs, and access production-related information.
In addition to attracting film and TV projects, Film Kissimmee is expected to generate significant economic opportunities for local businesses. Production crews often require lodging, food, transportation, equipment rental, supplies, and a variety of support services while filming on location.
These expenditures can generate additional business for hospitality operators and local service providers, in turn supporting Experience Kissimmee’s broader mission of driving tourism-related economic impact throughout Osceola County.
Looking ahead, Film Kissimmee plans to continue expanding its location database, develop educational resources for its local partners, and coordinate familiarization trips for producers and location managers from across the U.S. These trips will allow industry professionals to experience Osceola County’s film assets firsthand, while also fostering relationships with local businesses and property owners.
