Diego Piasek of Electus U.S., Gonzalo Fiure of Fox Latin America, and Eddy Ruiz of A+E Networks, participated on a panel that analyzed Argentina as producer and co-producer.All three concurred that the country’s main advantage is it talent. Electus is producing the American version of Mujeres Asesinas, a format by Argentinean company Pol-ka. Electus also works with countries such as Venezuela and Colombia.Fox’s Fiure said that besides having regional offices in Argentina, the company bought some years ago the Utilísima brand, which it later expanded throughout the region. It produces from Buenos Aires content for its Mexico and U.S. Hispanic feeds. The company produces over 1,000 hours per year and offers over 50 formats. He said the first fiction format produced was Tiempo Final, which is produced in Argentina for Fox Sports and National Geographic.Ruiz said that 80% of the company’s original production is done with Argentinean talent for some years because it offers a good mix: the quality of the people who work in the industry and the technology, and that despite uncertainties, producing in Argentina is very efficient. Each production company they work with has its expertise and they hire them as needed.“Our challenge is to have a narrative that transcends borders to minimize financial risk and maximize profits,” he added.
