Electric Entertainment: Our spin-off The Librarians: The Next Chapter has begun production

Sonia Mehandjiyska, head of International Distribution, Electric Entertainment

The FAST channel ElectricNOW, from Electric Entertainment, launched in 2023 in the US, has been gaining success, according to Sonia Mehandjiyska, head of International Distribution. They are launching internationally; they have already done so in Australia, and the next ones are Germany and the UK in 2025, probably. “We also premiered the series The Ark alongside Sci-Fi Channel, who allowed us to have the first two episodes simultaneously because they believed it could help give it greater exposure.”

Regarding the content they mainly produce, television series, the executive noted that they continue to be very successful. Among them, she mentioned Vanilla Sky, Leverage Redemption, which is entering its third season and will premiere in the fall. “We also have a spin-off called The Librarians: The Next Chapter (which began production a month ago and for which they already have some secured territories that I cannot mention), and it is based on three films” that can be enjoyed by the whole family. “I think that’s why it travels so well because it’s also easy for programmers. They don’t have to worry about violence, nudity, none of that. So they can air it at any time. In movies, we do very well with action, thriller, and science fiction because the company is owned by Dean Devlin, who is the producer of Independence Day, Stargate, and Godzilla. So, science fiction is definitely in our DNA.”

In her opinion, traditionally, broadcasters love crime procedural series. “One of our new television series, Almost Paradise, is exactly that. It is filmed in the Philippines. Also in that genre, we have Leverage Redemption.”
