For Floresta, the priority this year is establishing a pipeline for TV movies. The first title, Panic Room, begins filming this week in Brazil.
“This will be our first TV movie, a very successful IP from Sony. Starting with this title is a great move. The cast is amazing, with the lead role played by Ísis Valverde, a highly successful Brazilian actress known for her work with Globo. The daughter’s role is played by Marianna Santos, who worked with us on Luz,” said Adriana “Dida” Silva, VP and General Manager of Floresta, Sony’s production company in Brazil.
“We are planning to produce one title this year and aim to create two next year, building a larger library of TV movies,” she explained.
The goal is to produce one title this year and two the next. “We want to start building a more extensive TV movie library,” Silva noted, adding that they already have the next projects lined up and are seeking co-production opportunities. “We have two original titles in development, designed to feature international leads,” she added.
NEW SEASON OF YOUTUBE CREATORS
Silva also mentioned that February marks the premiere of the fifth season of Wild & Free (Soltos no Carnaval) on Prime Video, and they are ready to begin production on Shark Tank, which is now in its 10th year in Brazil. “It’s a powerful brand for Sony Channel and YouTube,” she said.
“YouTube is essential because it allows us to bring the brand to a larger audience beyond traditional television. Shark Tank Brasil is the largest YouTube channel in Brazil. Last year, due to the huge success of Shark Tank on YouTube, we created a special version, Shark Tank Creators, which was a massive hit. We’re now preparing for the second season. It’s special because it elevates such an important brand for Sony and introduces it to younger audiences,” she explained.
Silva also noted they are developing other YouTube projects, focusing on entrepreneurship themes that already have a strong audience on the platform.
