According to the United States Department of Agriculture, approximately 47 million Americans live in food-insecure households
Marking a historic milestone, Goya Foods will celebrate its 90th anniversary with “Goya Gives Day,” a nationwide day of service and philanthropy on March 31—the 90th day of the year. Through its Goya Gives initiative, the company will donate 1 million pounds of food to individuals and families across the United States, reinforcing its long-standing commitment to fighting food insecurity and supporting communities.
At the company’s headquarters in Jersey City, more than 200 volunteers from nonprofit organizations, local businesses, and law enforcement agencies will come together to pack thousands of food bags for distribution. The event will also feature remarks from Peter Unanue, President of Goya Foods, and Rafael Toro, National Director of Public Relations.
Local leaders, including James Solomon and Craig Guy, will join the celebration to officially declare March 31 as “Goya Gives Day” in recognition of the company’s 90 years of community impact.
The initiative will extend far beyond New Jersey. From Madrid and Seville to Puerto Rico, California, Texas, Florida, and Chicago, Goya facilities and more than 100 partner organizations across the U.S. and globally will participate in this coordinated effort, amplifying the company’s mission to serve communities in need.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, approximately 47 million Americans live in food-insecure households, with 13.5% of U.S. households experiencing food insecurity at some point during the year. These figures highlight the critical importance of initiatives like Goya Gives Day and the role of corporate leadership in addressing hunger.
“For 90 years, Goya has remained committed to nourishing families and strengthening communities,” the company stated. “Goya Gives Day reflects our continued mission to give back, ensuring that families facing food insecurity have access to quality food while celebrating nine decades of heritage, service, and community.”
