Henrique Oliveira, HOP!: Series Cuba Libre a great hit in Portugal

Henrique Oliveira, founder of the Portuguese production house HOP!, referred to the success of the series Cuba Libre in Portugal, a production set in the 1960s between Lisbon and Havana, with a very powerful, intense, and visual subject.

“It has not only been a hit in Portugal, but also among many distributors in different events and markets. This is why we signed a global distribution agreement with Keshet International at last Mipcom. We’ve done all right, and we already have a large digital platform that will be broadcasting the series very soon,” said Oliveira.

He mentioned that they are developing two large projects, one called Dos Noches en Lisboa, based on a bestselling book by an American author, a thriller about a US tourist that mysteriously disappears in Lisbon. “There are six intense and interesting episodes that will be available worldwide very soon.”

The second project is set in World War II and is about what really happened when the King of Edward VIII, abdicates to marry the American divorcee Wallis Simpson.

“The story will also include how the Germans try to kidnap Edward VIII in Lisbon for political reasons, a story that has not been told and that happened in real life. These projects are for 2023,” concluded Oliveira.
