During a joint press conference with special guests, Disney presented its new ten half-hour episodes series Pancho Villa, El Centauro del Norte available on Star+ starting this Wednesday, July 19. During the event, it was announced that the Star Original Productions series, made by BTF, will also be on Azteca 7 every Friday at 11pm starting this Friday 21.

“It is an incredible series and it shows the effort we make to have Mexican productions that appeal to all local audiences and that are available to the rest of Latin America. We are very happy with this series about the story of Pancho Villa from his beginnings to the moment he becomes a famous revolutionary and one of the most recognized Mexican characters in the world,” said Allan Navarrete, general manager of Disney Mexico.

He added that it is excellent work done by Mexican talent and that its premiere comes when celebrating the hundredth anniversary of his assassination, on July 20, 1923.

Mariana Pérez, VP of Development and Production of Disney Latin America, said she was proud of the series made with so much love, passion, and dedication.

“It’s wonderful, it’s a series that covers 30 years of Mexican history with a great production value that can be seen in every scene. The writer Enrique Rentería was advised by Mexican historians to give veracity and credibility to the story, produced by BTF that brought together the best talents of Mexican cinema and TV in front of and behind the cameras,” said Pérez.

He stressed that Rafa Lara, director, showrunner, and writer with Renteria, was responsible for the series during its 70 days of filming.

Regarding its broadcast on TV Azteca, Pérez told PRODU that this allows people who do not have access to the platform to watch it once a week. While in Star+ viewers won’t have to wait and maybe someone can decide to subscribe in order to see it all together.

“We created a Pancho Villa that transcends his anecdote and goes beyond the contrasting and polarized vision that predominates: hero or villain. This is possible because it is a series made from Mexico to the world, in which it is not necessary to know about the history of the country to be passionate about it,” said Lara.

The series stars Jorge A. Jiménez (Pancho Villa), Juan Luis Medina (Carlos Jáuregui) and Armando Hernández (Tomás Urbina). And the cast includes Leonardo Alonso (Rodolfo Fierro), Marco Treviño (Venustiano Carranza), Pablo Abitia (Raúl Madero), Andrés Montiel (Felipe Ángeles), with the special appearance of Dagoberto Gama (general Victoriano Huerta) and Gabriela Cartol (Luz “Lucita” Corral).
