Telemundo Boston/WNEU today announced that Pedro Castro-Amaré has been named sports anchor for Noticiero Telemundo Boston at 6pm and 11pm. Castro-Amaré, who will be WNEUs first sports anchor since the station launched its local newscasts in August 2015, will join news anchor José Rivera Adrovet, weather anchor Cecy Gutiérrez and a dynamic team of reporters to deliver the latest local breaking news and information that is of interest to the Hispanic community in the Boston Area. In addition to his new role as sports anchor, Castro-Amaré will be a contributor on Red Sox Report Fridays at 5:30pm.The Boston area is one of the most dynamic sports markets in the country and Pedros positive energy, coupled with his palpable passion for sports, will ensure that our viewers receive the best sports content and coverage possible, said Kenny Plotnik, VP of News, Telemundo Boston.Castro-Amaré joins Telemundo Boston from sister-station Telemundo 51 Miami/WSCV, where he worked as the weekend sports anchor for Noticiero Telemundo 51 and as co-host of Puro Béisbol (Pure Baseball), a sports special dedicated to Major League Baseballs spring training season.
