Miguel Ángel Fox, producer of the broadcast: The demand for areas such as lighting and post-production has been crucial to maintaining the visual quality that has set ¿Quién es la Máscara? apart

¿Quién es la Máscara? returns this year with a new season featuring new elements and a refreshed cast. This TelevisaUnivision show, which has captivated audiences with its blend of music, mystery, and spectacle, returns to the Las Estrellas screen with some innovative production techniques and cast dynamics. Notably, it will be broadcast simultaneously in Mexico and the US for the first time, with slight variations in transmission.”

Miguel Ángel Fox, the producer of the show, commented, “The main challenge is to innovate in terms of mechanics and keep the program fresh, in a context where successful formats are scarce. The current competition is not only limited to other television channels but also to digital platforms and social networks. For this reason, the production has implemented new dynamics, such as the save button. This feature will allow investigators to save a character only once during the entire season, just before they are about to be unmasked.”

One of the highlights of this season is the return of Anahí after a 15-year absence from television. Her joining the panel of investigators, alongside Carlos Rivera, Martha Higareda, and Juanpa Zurita, will bring a new energy to the show, increasing the anticipation of the audience.

In terms of production, Fox emphasized: “The demand for areas such as lighting and post-production has been crucial to maintaining the visual quality that has set ¿Quién es la Máscara? apart. This year, the competition is reaching a wider audience as the program will be broadcast simultaneously in Mexico and the United States through the ViX platform. This represents a logistical challenge as it involves specific adaptations for each audience.”

Another notable aspect is the creation of new characters, a process that began in January of this year. Among the new figures that will compete on stage are peculiar names like Azul, Cacahuate Enchilado, Microphone, Venustiano, and Ranastasia, who will keep viewers guessing their identities until the very end.

In addition to the new on-screen features, the program continues to evolve to stay relevant in a constantly changing landscape. Digital interaction plays a crucial role in this strategy. According to Fox, one of the program’s attractions is that ‘people get into the roles,’ trying to guess, along with the investigators, who is hiding behind the masks. This generates an interactive dynamic on social networks that complements the television experience.

Hosted by Omar Chaparro and supported backstage by Marisol González, this season promises not only to surpass its predecessors but also to set a new benchmark for entertainment television in Mexico and the United States.

NEW SERIES WITH DISNEY+

Fox also participated in the production of Julia Pastrana with BTF Media. He explained, “It’s a period piece that, when we decided to film in Spain, proved to be the best choice due to the incredible locations. The cast is spectacular, featuring top-notch actors like Miguel Rodarte, Eduardo Noriega, and Fátima Molina. There will be ten episodes, and it will be released on Disney+ next year.”

Julia Pastrana (February 14, 1834 – March 25, 1860) was a Mexican woman born in the mountains of Sinaloa. In the mid-19th century, she exhibited in Europe her hypertrichosis, also known as werewolf syndrome, which caused her face and body to be completely covered in straight black hair. Her large ears, nose, and protruding jaw resulting from two rows of irregular teeth, gave her face an ape-like appearance.
