Caracol Televisión is currently producing an original ReelShort series in Colombia
ReelShort, the leading platform for vertical-format dramas, continues its expansion in Latin America and has announced a collaboration with Caracol Television. This agreement expands an initial licensing deal and now includes the production of new Spanish-language content — a key step in ReelShort’s development in the region.
ReelShort first worked with Caracol TV in the summer of 2024, licensing a catalog of eight titles that included both classics and contemporary dramas. At the same time, ReelShort began producing its most popular shows for the Latin American market, adapting to the local culture and achieving notable success. This demonstrated a strong demand for high-drama, short-format storytelling in Spanish-speaking markets.
“At Caracol Televisión, we are constantly looking for innovative ways to connect with global audiences, and this collaboration with ReelShort marks an exciting milestone. Launching our first telenovela in this format allows us to combine our storytelling expertise with the dynamic, mobile-first viewing habits of today’s digital generation,” said Lisette Osorio, VP of International Business at Caracol Televisión.
“We saw an opportunity to build something much bigger in Latin America,” said Sammie Hao from ReelShort’s Licensing team. “After the success of our licensing deal, the natural next step was to invest in local production, working with Caracol not only as a content provider but as a creative production partner to further drive our presence in the region.”
Caracol Televisión is currently producing an original ReelShort series in Colombia, with filming having started in April and a premiere scheduled for summer 2025. The series is part of a broader ReelShort initiative to create Spanish-language content tailored to the platform’s unique format: short episodes, emotionally charged, and optimized for mobile audiences.
“Working alongside Caracol is a very exciting step: the network is embracing experimentation with a new storytelling format. From the production side, we’ve worked to combine local essence with the agility and emotion that define ReelShort,” said Maritza Castro, CPM of LATAM Productions at ReelShort.
While Caracol had previously explored digital storytelling through web series, this new approach — ultra-short, easily consumable episodes designed for fast-paced lives — is sparking interest among the Latin community, proving that stories know no boundaries.
According to both companies, this partnership marks a pivotal moment in ReelShort’s journey to redefine global entertainment and strengthens Caracol TV’s leadership in the Latin American market.
