Tequila Films, in collaboration with Grupo KP, inaugurated Tequila Studios on Tuesday, the 25th—a new audiovisual production complex located in Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, Jalisco. With a private investment exceeding US$10 million, the project aims to position the state as a world-class production hub and generate around 15,000 direct jobs in its first year.
Jalisco’s governor, Pablo Lemus, led the inauguration, highlighting how these studios complement the state’s natural locations, enhancing its ability to attract both national and international productions.
The 10,000m² complex can accommodate up to seven simultaneous productions, including films, series, and commercials. It features three studios ranging from 2,000m² to 600m², a multi-location house, outdoor green areas, and high-end lighting, cameras, and optics.
A UNIQUE PRODUCTION FACILITY IN JALISCO
Hugo Pulido, CEO of Grupo KP, emphasized that this infrastructure is one of a kind in Jalisco, equipped with professional-grade technology to meet the needs of platforms like Netflix and other production companies.
“Never before has Jalisco had a space with these features. This complex will showcase our state’s potential, its beauty, and its people,” said Pulido.
TAX INCENTIVES FOR THE INDUSTRY
During the event, the governor highlighted the implementation of the Film Law and the cash rebate program, which offers tax incentives for productions investing in the state: “If a producer hires local services—such as recording studios, makeup artists, or lighting—they can recover the taxes paid in Jalisco. This is something new in the country,” he explained.
These measures aim to strengthen the local audiovisual industry and attract more international projects, positioning Jalisco as a competitive production destination.
IMPACT ON JALISCO’S AUDIOVISUAL INDUSTRY
The launch of Tequila Studios marks a significant step in the growth of Jalisco’s audiovisual industry, which organizations like Filma Jalisco already support. Andrés Pulido, Commercial Manager of Tequila Films, emphasized the importance of this project for the state: “This complex establishes Jalisco as a true first-class audiovisual production hub,” he said.
With this inauguration, Jalisco strengthens its offering for the audiovisual industry. Its combination of state-of-the-art infrastructure, tax incentives, and unique locations makes it an attractive destination for high-profile productions.
