Kathleen Griffiths, fundadora y CEO en Grayse & Co

Kathleen Griffiths, Founder and CEO at Grayse & Co., spoke about the value of confidence and said: “it is like a muscle, where each time you practice, you get stronger.” She added that “gaining confidence is really just the by-product of leaning into risk and becoming more of who you are.”For her, growth, authenticity and the building of confidence is a daily practice. It’s also a process that can be accelerated in difficult times. “Sometimes you do have to break open to get to a breakthrough. When in doubt, I fall back on the question, What would you do if you weren’t afraid?.”Griffiths recognized she has had setbacks that have affected her confidence and said that to help her team members achieve it, she supports them through word and action. “Don’t assign blame when things go wrong. Leave room for people to own their mistakes so that they can work through them, or bring them to the team to solve.” She added that it is also important to celebrate achievements, create a positive work environment where individuals feel safe taking risks. She recommended that to build confidence, the first thing you must do is show up. “Sit in the middle of every table and have an opinion. Some studies have shown that the biggest difference between men and women seated around a board table is not the quality of their ideas, but the fact that the men are more willing to speak out, even if their idea is not quite fully formed.”
