Martín Aguirre: "For our clients—film producers—we aim to inform them about the AI tools that are becoming industry standards"
Martín Aguirre leads the Artificial Intelligence division at Spanglish Movies. “We are interested in exploring new business opportunities through artificial intelligence. Additionally, for our clients—film producers—we aim to inform them about the AI tools that are becoming industry standards,” Aguirre told PRODU.
As part of this division, Aguirre is conducting webinars and podcasts featuring industry professionals who are already using AI tools.
The first session featured Carlos Sánchez from Protege, a company that licenses audiovisual material to train AI algorithms.
“Spanglish Movies has an agreement with Protege to provide a material package since they purchase or license large volumes of content for training purposes,” Aguirre explained. He added that even producers with just one or two films, or those who don’t own hundreds of hours of content, can bundle their material into a larger package to monetize it differently.
Producers can also leverage additional materials such as behind-the-scenes footage or “making-of” content. “A lot of material is created for a film—30 to 50 hours of extra footage that doesn’t make it into the final cut—which can also be used to train AI algorithms. This allows producers to generate extra revenue from otherwise unused content,” Aguirre detailed.
In addition to the webinar with Carlos Sánchez from Protege, they invited colorist Laura Viviani to discuss AI-assisted color grading. Upcoming webinars and podcasts will cover topics such as:
– Voice Cloning
– AI-Generated Sound Processing and Music
– AI-Assisted Dossiers and Scripts
– “Automatic” Dubbing for Films
– Photo and Video Restoration
– AI-Generated Digital Art and Video

“Our role in this case is to connect different players and offer opportunities to film producers and directors, inviting them to distribute their content through Spanglish Movies,” Aguirre noted. He highlighted the new Spanglish Zero initiative, where they distribute content with zero commission—completely waiving the traditional distributor fee.
Aguirre emphasized that the goal of Spanglish Movies with these webinars and podcasts is to serve as a facilitator for producers and directors. “We want them to feel that through Spanglish Movies, they can connect with professionals in editing, special effects, and AI-driven business opportunities. At the same time, they can distribute their content and participate in business ventures that would otherwise be difficult to access individually.”
